Full course description
This workshop will provide an overview of how and why to adapt texts for students with significant disabilities. This course will provide you with strategies on how to adapt your own text as well as resources for finding already adapted text. In addition, the course will provide a brief history of the importance for this population to access age and grade appropriate texts. Moreover, this course will provide further explanation of how to adapt texts for students with the most significant disabilities and ways to promote active student responding during a story based lesson. Finally, this course will provide guidance on additional supports to include in adapted text to promote early literacy and reading skills.
