NDE1062: The School Counselor Pathway: Emotional Intelligence Microcredential
Self-paced
Full course description
Emotional intelligence is not tied to IQ, nor is it assigned at birth, but rather it is "the ability to manage both your own emotions and understand the emotions of people around you" (https://mhanational.org). The five key elements of emotional intelligence are self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills; they are learned skills that can improve with practice. Students who learn how to manage their emotions through purposeful exercises can improve their school and life experiences as well as the experiences of others (https://mhanational.org). This microcredential represents the counselor's ability to provide high-quality instruction on emotional intelligence.
