NDE1052: Project-Based Learning Pathway: Student Critique, Reflection, and Revision Microcredential
Self-paced
Full course description
This course is appropriate for teachers and licensed personnel who work directly with students.
PBL classrooms require students to fully engage in their learning. This engagement results in projects that have outcomes beyond a simple research paper or project board; students are expected to share their accomplishments and outcomes with an audience in some way, so critique, reflection, and revision are essential to ensure that published projects are high-quality and can stand up to questioning. The ability to constructively critique a peer's work does not come easily for many students. It is a learned skill that, if done well, substantially benefits both the giver and the receiver. After high-quality criticism, the student receiver must authentically reflect on the advice provided by their peer and make decisions regarding revisions to their project. This process improves overall learning and prepares students for real-world interactions outside the classroom. This microcredential focuses on an educator's ability to guide effective student critique, reflection, and revision throughout project-based learning (PBL).
