NDE1042: Portrait of a Learner Competencies Pathway 1/4: Empowering Microcredential
Self-paced
Full course description
The Nevada Department of Education’s Portrait of a Learner initiative supports schools and districts across the state as they implement personalized, competency-based learning (PCBL) systems aimed at helping students progress at their own pace to develop real-world skills and academic knowledge. PCBL is personalized, meaning instruction is adapted based on individual students’ needs, and competency-based, meaning mastery is the focus instead of seat time. The Nevada Department of Education has identified four competencies: Empowering (How will I grow in my learning?), Connecting (How do I build and sustain relationships and community?), Impacting (How will I contribute to make an impact?), and Thriving (How will I thrive?). This microcredential focuses on an educator’s understanding of how to integrate Empowering into personalized, competency-based learning through reflection, curiosity, self-awareness, and balance.
