NDE1033: NEPF Professional Responsibilities/ Educator Microcredential 2/5: PR Standard 2

This microcredential focuses on implementing the NEPF Teacher Professional Responsibilities Standard 2 - Reflection on Professional Growth and Practice. Professional Responsibilities Standard 2 requires educators to reflect on their professional growth and practice. Teacher reflection is important because it helps teachers to collect, record, and analyze everything that happened in the lesson, it allows them to move from just experiencing into understanding, and research has shown that if they don’t question themselves about what their experiences mean and think actively about them then they won’t make any changes and therefore improve (Spalding, 2020). Teachers must seek out feedback and use a variety of data to self-reflect on their practice, pursue professional learning opportunities to support improved instructional practice across the school community; and take an active role in mentoring colleagues and pursue teacher leadership opportunities.
