Full course description

This course is appropriate for educators and licensed personnel engage work with others in an instructional coaching role.

Highly competent instructional coaches understand that teachers often are tasked with ensuring that students meet a variety of types of standards. Instructional coaches must not only understand the Nevada Academic Content Standards associated with teachers’ specialties but also help them to integrate NEPF and other standards (CTE, Next Generation Science Standards, etc.) into learning and assessment. Standards-based instruction sets high expectations and provides a framework for teachers as they outline instructional goals and design learning tasks to guide students toward mastery. Using standards to guide instructional choices also helps eliminate gaps in learning; teachers can use standards to help students set goals for learning and to help them understand where they are going, why they are going, and how they will get there. Additionally, working with standards fosters collaboration among educators. This microcredential focuses on an instructional coach’s ability to help teachers integrate multiple sets of standards into their curriculum.
