Continuous assessment throughout a learning cycle is an integral part of creating a classroom culture of continuous improvement. Continuous assessment is purposeful and varied to ensure that students not only see their growth as they progress toward mastery but also that they learn to self-monitor, or assess themselves, which is a skill that will serve them throughout their lives. Continuous assessments come in a variety of forms: observation, short written assessments, visual art, discourse, questioning, etc. Continually assessing students and using the acquired data to build lessons based on students' readiness will ensure that all students have opportunities to achieve significant academic growth. This microcredential represents an educator's ability to use a variety of assessments systematically and continuously to improve academic outcomes.
