Full course description

This course is appropriate for teachers and licensed personnel who work with students grades 5 - 12 and Adult Education.

Visual literacy skills are essential to learning and sharing information in every discipline. In order to help students achieve academic growth, teachers must support students in learning to read and interpret visual text common in their discipline; for example, charts and graphs in social studies, tables in science, art in literature, and formulas in mathematics. Students should also learn to create visual literacy texts in order to share their understanding. This microcredential focuses on how educators implement visual literacy instruction that is specific to their content or discipline to help students learn new material and deepen their understanding of previously learned content.
