Successful knowledge building results in students achieving mastery through cooperative learning activities that increase the knowledge of a group through discourse. Students will collectively grow in understanding when teachers are able to engage students in constructive academic discourse as well as reflection on their experiences. Knowledge building activities are those that help students gain new knowledge through discovery, questioning, and sharing understanding with their peers; it is an essential skill for student success. This microcredential focuses on the effective use of cooperative learning strategies that support student interactions related to gaining knowledge and understanding.
