Full course description
Registration for this course will open on September 22nd and the course will run October 1st through December 31st This course is designed to support you in approaching the Holocaust with clarity and confidence. Together, we will explore the historical foundations, the lived experiences of Jewish communities and others targeted, and the ways educators can present this history ethically and age-appropriately. The goal is not only to understand what happened, but to consider how our choices as educators shape how students perceive and connect with this history.
By engaging with survivor voices, primary sources, and carefully curated resources, you will gain tools to teach responsibly—balancing truth-telling with compassion, and fostering empathy without sensationalism.
- Intended Audience: All educators can benefit from this course. Content is geared toward social studies teachers.
- Method: This course is mostly self-paced with certain activities having a due date. Participants in this course will review content and complete assessments based on these dates.
- Time Needed: Each module is estimated to take approximately 2 weeks.
